Pastoral Ponderings 11/25/2016

Soon, very soon, we are going to see the ChristLight!

It may be hard to believe but Christmas is just over 4 weeks away. For some this is the most wonderful time of the year and for others it is the most hectic. I hope, that in addition to whatever else you may do over these coming weeks you will also take time to intentionally focus on preparing to celebrate Christ as the light of the world. I am not trying to discourage you from whatever ways you may have planned to observe the days between now and Christmas. What I am encouraging all of us to do is take time to savor the anticipation and spiritually prepare ourselves to celebrate the greatest gift any of us could receive. As a community of faith Imago Dei will be taking time during the next four Sundays to listen to and ponder the beautiful story of preparation that is found in the Gospel attributed to Luke. Our Worship Space will look different in order to help us focus on the coming light. We will take time to consider the diverse group of people included in those verses and their responses to the good news that Christ Jesus was coming to them. We will sing the songs they sang along with the hymns that remind us of the coming light. I hope you will choose to be part of this preparing for the ChristLight and not for just part of the story but the whole narration, so that you will be more ready to fully celebrate the birth of Jesus.
